About the event
This fascinating route touches the Don Bosco Huascaran refuge and the Peru-Pisco refuge, passes through various altitude bands dominated by the nevados Huascarán and overlooking the immense space of the Rio Santa valley and the Cordillera Negra, passing through the beautiful lagoons of Llanganuco and reaching, if desired, the summit of the nevado Pisco 5752m - enjoying a breathtaking 360° view of the entire Cordillera Blanca.
The Casarotto trek leads to admire the north face of Huascaràn Norte where in 1977 the great mountaineer from Vicenza Renato Casarotto opened a route alone, taking 17 days. Despite various attempts, over the years, this route has not been entirely repeated, which is why it is considered one of the "most difficult routes in the world".
